Very rare, dark patina. Extremely fine.

From the III cen BC, the relations between the rich city of Capua, called by Livy "urbs maxima opulentissimaque Italiae", and Rome started to deteriorate. These tensions erupted into a direct conflict when the city of Campania allied with Hannibal. During the years of independence, Capua issued coins in electrum, gold, silver and bronze and specifically this coin falls into the third series of bronze emissions. Excluding this short period (216-211 BC), the city didn't coined other issues, supporting the thesis that Capua used the Roman's coins, especially after its submission to Rome, sanctioned by a senate-consult in 210 BC.
