Original 1874 Monnier Catalogue of Lorraine

A few contemporary annotations. Fine or nearly so. The rare original of this important catalogue of the numismatic productions of Lorraine. While the 1981 reprint is occasionally encountered, this is the first original copy we have handled in many years. Although the catalogue implies that the collection was formed by Michel Monnier (de feu M. M. Monnier), it was in fact formed by Auguste Monnier (1802-1864), as indicated by Engel & Serrure and others. Engel & Serrure 4624: "Cette collection est la plus nombreuse qui ait jamais rŽunie en fait de numismatique lorraine." Ex Alain Poinsignon Library.
