Very Rare 1800 Counterfeit List
Grover Brothers. WILLIAMS' MONTHLY TRADE REGISTER AND COUNTERFEIT NATIONAL BANK AND TREASURY NOTE DETECTOR, CONTAINING RAILROAD TIME TABLES, ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE OF THE MAILS, POSTAL LAWS, FIRE ALARM BOXES, &C., &C. Newark (?), June Edition, 1880. 24mo, original printed paper covers. 24 pages. Minor smudges on covers; near fine and housed in archival folder. The first copy we have encountered of this title, which was not present in Newman, Ford, or any of the other major collection of Bank Note Reporters and Counterfeit Detectors. The counterfeit listing is somewhat slim, taking up about two and a half pages of this little booklet, and it is simply a listing of known bad notes, not really a counterfeit detector per se. Its place of publication is not stated, though it appears to be Newark, New Jersey. Very interesting. Ex Michael Sullivan Library.
