Steigerwalt's Very Rare Numismatic News
Steigerwalt, Chas. NUMISMATIC NEWS. Nos. 1 and 3 (Lancaster, March and September 1895. Two of the four issues published. Tabloid [29.5 by 22.5 cm]. 8 + 8 pages. Both issues with separations at fold reinforced with archival mending tissue. Some chipping; good. Bourne 1890-24. The rarest of the Steigerwalt publications, which, given the rarity of all of them, is saying something. While arguably the best of his four periodicals, its tabloid format and brittle paper has ensured an almost total lack of survival. Totally lacking from both the Champa and Bass Libraries. John Eshbach's complete set of the four issues brought $1800 hammer in our 2013 New York Book Auction. Ex M. Bourne Library.
