PB Byzantine seal of Olbianos patrikios, imperial protospatharios and strategos of the Anatolikoi (9th century AD).
Obv: Cruciform invocative monogram (type V): Θεοτόκε βοήθει. In the quarters: [τ]ῷ σῷ [δ]ούλῳ. Thin wreath border.
Rev: Inscription of four lines: [+] Ὀλβια[νῷ] πατρ(ικίῳ) β(ασιλικῷ) (πρωτο)[σπαθ(αρίῳ) (καὶ)] στρα(τηγῷ) τ[ῶν] Ἀνατο[λ(ικῶν)]. Thin wreath border.
Translation: Lord, help your servant Olbianos patrikios, imperial protospatharios and strategos of the Anatolikoi.
Since his name is mostly lost on the only parallel published by Zacos – Veglery, Olbianos is attested for the first time with this seal as the strategos of the Anatolikoi. See, Zacos – Veglery 2609; PBE Anonymus 521.
