PB Byzantine seal of Sympatikios (11th century AD).
Obv: Bust of St Nicholas holding the book and offering a blessing. Inscription on either side: ὁ ἅ(γιος) Νικόλ(αος). Traces of a circular inscription visible at the upper right: Κ[(ύρι)ε β(οή)θ(ει) τ]ῷ σῷ δούλῳ.
Rev: Inscription of five lines, decorations above and below: [Σ]υμπα[τί]κι(ον) σὸν [σ]κέποις δοῦλον μάκαρ. Border of dots.
Translation: Blessed One, may you protect your servant Sympatikios.

It is likely that the owner was of Armenian or Georgian descent with a Hellenised name (from Smbat, Sumbat).
