PB Byzantine anonymous plaque. (13th-14th century AD).
Obv: Half-length bust of Saint Panteleimon wearing nimbus and holding medical instruments; sigla to either side: [ὁ ἅ(γιος) Π]αντελεή[μων]; all in square decorated border.
Rev: Cross with each arm ending in a pellet on three steps with tendrils flowing therefrom. In the angles of the cross, inscription: Ἰησοῦς Χριστὸς νήκα.

The worship of Saint Pantaleon is attested since the fifth century, and as the patron saint of doctors and midwives he became one of the most venerated saints in the Christian world.
