Gordian II was serving in the African province ruled by his father, Gordian I. Meanwhile, Maximinus' wars forced Rome economically, causing discontent among the people. The fact that the Senate was now against Maximinus caused the revolt of 80-year-old Gordian I and his 46-year-old son Gordian II. As a result of the rebellion, Gordian II was killed, who could only stay on the throne for 20 days. Gordian I committed suicide after the death of his son.
